A LITTLE GLITTER, A LOT OF LOVE
There’s something quietly powerful about a community showing up for the people who need it most, not because they have to, but because they want to. That’s exactly what happened when WGC Foundation arrived at Haven House this Christmas, arms full of gifts, sensory toys and a whole lot of heart.
WGC Foundation carefully put together a collection of children’s gifts and sensory toys, working from an agreed list to make sure everything was just right. The toys arrived in two batches, for their Santa’s Grotto.

Alongside the toys, WGC Foundation also sent gifts to the Nurse’s as a gesture of gratitude to the remarkable people who show up for these children every day, often without the recognition they deserve. It was a small way of saying: we see you, and we’re here too.

The Moment That Said Everything
When the Haven House team brought the toys in, the reaction said it all. Nurses and children alike were delighted, and in that moment, all the planning, the coordinating and the carrying of boxes became completely worthwhile.
But the moment that will stay with everyone longest came a little later. The children at Haven House, in their own gentle way, wanted to say thank you. So they made a Christmas card, by hand, for the WGC Foundation team. On the front: a glitter footprint, pressed carefully onto the card by one of the children staying there that day.
It’s the kind of thing you can’t plan for. It’s the kind of thing that reminds you why this work matters.

“Gus and I took the toys into care yesterday, and the nurses and children were delighted. As a thank you, they have made a Christmas card for you guys - the front has a glitter footprint from one of the children who was staying with us.”

What Community Really Looks Like
This Christmas, WGC Foundation and Haven House showed us something we all need to be reminded of sometimes: that community isn’t just a word. It’s people choosing to show up. It’s toys carefully chosen from a list. It’s a child pressing their little foot into glitter and saying thank you in the most innocent, beautiful way they know how.
WGC Foundation expressed deep gratitude to Haven House for a year of shared support and collaboration, and Haven House, in turn, said thank you in the most touching way imaginable. That’s what happens when people care about the same things and work together to make a difference.
